This Thing We Call Love

What’s this thing we call love?
The romantic feeling that overwhelms our system?
That raises our heart beat?
The endless cuddling?
The passionate kisses?
The gazes that go on and on?
The sweet and endearing words?
Sometimes love is inexplainable;
Oftentimes, uncontrollable.
Boughed by this ecstasy,
We look for a forever feeling,
Thinking this love thing will never wane.
As push turns to shove,
Masks are off and
Pretense gives way to reality.
We query love’s claims and
Doubt its enduring power.
Destructive words fly like saucers.
Hand in gloves ready to punch.
Hearts ripped apart.
Off to the divorce court
Forever lovers become sworn enemies.
The end of a bittersweet affair.
Shouldn’t love be viewed from the prism of the Maker?
The One called Love?
The Lover that never quits?
Doesn’t every frail human lover need
A perfect Lover?
Doesn’t the imperfect need the Perfect?
Then, two imperfect lovers
Can risk loving each other
Through the thick and the thin;
A forever feeling,
Moderated by their mutual submission to each other
And to their forever Lover.

  4. How I wish the permanence is really permanent; that we focus on the reality and not the ephemeral; the enduring and not the wish-wash one that do not face the inevitable realities of vagaries of life.

If we are real, divorce will be gone for ever because human shall always be human, except and until we become eternal from the cross

May God guide us to find the eternal live that overlooks frailties and encourage one another when we fail to meet the expectations

    Thanks

  14. God Himself is love and since we are made in His image we should love ourselves to have peace on the surface of earth. Love covers all sins. Brilliant script, more grace my buddy.

  15. Yes my good thoughtful and brilliant friend, what we really need in this world is altruistic love - love for all! It is an unconditional love for all which ONLY the Almighty has and HE wants all of us to exhibit. Thanks for this wonderful thoughts, God bless you.

  24. The Maestro at it again.Deeply philosophical and theological. Especially so in this so- called season of 'love'. True love that confronts reality and delivers from hormonal delusions can only be 'shed abroad' in our hearts, from Above. May God keep your heart fresh and your pen flowing....until the Bridegroom Comes. Maranatha!

  25. The second verse always breaks my heart, especially watching even so called Christian marriages disappear down this infamous path. How did they miss it? Where did they miss it? At last, i saw and realized marriage was not man's creation so how can he excel faultlessly at it?

We must be humble and acknowledge we were never experts at this. So much we didn't know and had to learn. Glad i learned and God has made marriage one of His greatest gifts to me.

Here's a few secrets i learned: Let Love teach you love (seeing love from His p.o.v will change your life); Let Love guide you to 'love' (for not anyone can be your love);Let Love prepare and train you for love (here is where many stumble) and let Love lead and rule you while in love (both before and after "I do"). Wherever Love is Lord, lovers stay in love no matter the pressure life brings. It truly takes Love to Love.

  26. Hmm, love! The greatest gift from the creator. Love is actually the greatest when the two who claimed to love each other truly loves in the same higher order and percentage.
